Botclub is an educational startup for students to create focus on robotics and mechanics, providing knowledge for ~3000 students.

To improve knowledge and interest in robotics, decided to create an engagement by raising technical Q/A for the students.

To comply with my non-disclosure agreement, I have omitted and obfuscated confidential information in this case study. All information in this case study is my own and does not necessarily reflect the views of Botclub.

Role

Research, Information architecture, Interaction, Visual design, & testing

Duration

Jun 2018- Sep 2018

Research

Created a roadmap for the completion of design phase under the timeline. By knowing the vision, goals and needs of the product. Started with stakeholder interview to know "whats the vision?” the spark line from the conversation is.
  • Students should engage and get clarified for the queries/ doubts by the solution given by everyone.

Identifying user persona with related to the product goal. Gathered activity from students.

Qualitative interviews, it's a quintessential of gathering data which allowed me to begin with new findings from the students. gathered as much as I could from the students to understand their needs and insights identified from examination which made me to think outside my thought process.

My Interview encompassed

  • Understanding the students interest
  • Utilisation of mobile application
  • Task based approaches

Few points from conversations

"Can I answer whenever I want?

"Can I see others answer?

"What are the question types?

"Can I raise my own questions?

Insights

Interviews, contextual inquiry provided me the below insights.

  1. Students can answer whenever they want
  2. The answers are visible to everyone who post
  3. Students can create own questions
  4. Progress to encourage them

Problem

Improve the interest among the students towards the domain of robotics and mechanism, which is not educated actively in the school curriculum.

User flow

From the research collectives, plotted out the golden path for users to complete the task as simple as possible, The goal achieved through card sorting mechanism and created the IA. With customer journey map figured out the feelings, motivations and opportunities through their touch points helps to achieve the goals for the product.
User flow

Conceptualization

Created low-fi concepts for primary use cases by having go-ahead from the stakeholders on the mockups.
I began to conduct tests to carry out hypothetical tasks on existing participants and new participants to identify whether values are provided, to identify any new collectives, interactivity of the product and to measure on heuristics from low-fi mockups.
After confirming with students, whether the product fulfill their needs by creating a value. Began digitizing the designs.

The Solution

“Students should engage and get clarified from the solution which provided by everyone, for the queries/doubts which they create”.
Crafted the product towards MVP to attain the solution timely and effectively.

Explore by knowledge sharing

Everyone can view the answers provided by other

Raise own questions to get answers

A way to clarify the doubts by creating question to others.

Progress for every activity

Betterment by proving the additional points for submitting the answers.

Learnings

It’s about the thought process of consumers

New phase of thinking from user testing and interviews.

Surveys & feedback

A valuable data are gathered which are very essential at every phase of the product life cycle.

Product roadmap

Roadmap is essential before taking any steps. To attain under the specified time, it give clarity on things to achieve under discovery, design and launch.
